About Us
The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented devastation in nearly all aspects of life. Many media stories and research studies have explored the impact of this pandemic through economic, financial, or epidemiological lenses. However, the disproportionate experiences of daily life by many communities during COVID-19 were severely underreported by the media. Domestic abuse, lack of access to mental health resources, loss of access to contraception for women across the globe, & gender-based violence, are a few examples of the many inequities in healthcare policies and procedures exacerbated by COVID-19.
As a grassroots organization, we are dedicated to educating not only students, but our global community members, on the experiences of underserved groups such as women, children, and minorities with historically disproportionate healthcare outcomes across the globe.
A major systemic flaw that perpetuates healthcare inequity is a lack of verifiable or accessible information to the public. We aim to interrupt cycles of misinformation & lack of media coverage by sharing content only from reliable sources. Knowledge translation and transparency are at the heart of our goal. By investigating and consolidating information from various scientific articles and databases, we will make digestible content available for our readers through several platforms.
We hope our content will not only shed light on the unique (and often neglected) experiences of vulnerable communities but also encourage you to engage in meaningful dialogue with your peers to improve our expectations of our healthcare systems and leaders.
